Modern Design. Small-Town Setting.

In small, rural towns like Sleepy Eye, Minnesota, homes tend to age gracefully, but not always boldly.

A Whole-Home Transformation

After 45 years in the same home, Mike and Candy knew it was time for an update. Their original siding had been painted and refreshed over the decades, but, fundamentally, it hadn't changed since the day they moved in.

But they weren't just looking for new siding. They were looking for a new chapter. "For some reason," Mike states, "I don't think we realized exactly HOW out of date our house was. After the transformation, we have a home we can really be proud of!"

What followed was a dramatic exterior transformation using multiple coordinated EDCO steel systems:

  • Siding: Endura Traditional Lap, Single 6" in Statuary Bronze
  • Soffit Accent: Perspectives Shiplap, 6" in Hickory
  • Rainware: Entex in Statuary Bronze

This project became a showcase of true design versatility and what's possible when every exterior element works together.

A Shared Vision, 45 Years in the Making

Mike and Candy approached the remodel with intentionality. They spent time researching, saving images, and refining their design direction. Over time, it became clear they were aligned on the same aesthetic: clean lines, modern warmth, and something distinct from their surrounding homes.

They partnered with Randy Jacobs from Stimpert Homes, a trusted local contractor.

Before & After: A True Blank Canvas

Randy describes whole-home renovations as a blank canvas. "I love the Before & Afters!" he states. "Especially when it's a dramatic change." And this project delivered exactly that.

The home went from a traditional, dated exterior to a bold, architectural statement--one that stands out in their town.

Before the Transformation

The transformation proves that modern doesn't have to mean metropolitan. If it's your aesthetic, it can shine no matter where you call home.

The Power of Pairing: Endura, Perspectives, and Entex Rainware

This wasn't simply a siding replacement. This was a layered exterior design.

Endura Traditional Lap Siding in Statuary Bronze

The deep, rich tone of Statuary Bronze provides strong visual presence and contrast. The clean, 6" traditional lap profile delivers timeless structure with modern depth.

Perspectives 6" Shiplap Soffit Accent in Hickory

While used exclusively in the soffit application, Perspectives plays a pivotal role in this home's design. The warm hickory finish adds dimension overhead, softening the bold siding color while maintaining a cohesive steel solution (not to mention, the beauty of a natural wood look without any of the continuous maintenance).

According to Randy, "Versatility! My customers want something different from what their neighbors have done, and Perspectives allows us to accomplish that for them."

Coordinated Steel Gutters and Downspouts in Statuary Bronze

Instead of treating gutters and downspouts as an afterthought, the rainware was color-matched to the siding. This detail helps complete the envelope, maintaining clean lines and avoiding visual distraction.

The result of this thoroughly planned design? A fully integrated steel exterior system that works together in both design and durability.

Why Steel, and Why EDCO?

For Mike and Candy, material selection was about more than just looks. With two retired builders in the family, they were recommended to choose steel because it's "one and done, with no maintenance." Durability soon became a key factor in their decision-making process.

At this stage in life, Mike and Candy wanted:

  • Long-term performance
  • Minimal upkeep
  • A home that would look great for decades

How did EDCO fit that build? "It's what Randy recommended," Mike replies. "The color options felt rich and elevated, and they had all of the product lines we wanted to bring our vision to life seamlessly."

From the Contractor's perspective, Randy describes EDCO as "a step above. Colors are vibrant and quality is top notch. It's a material that's going to last."

Education = Confidence

Both the homeowner and the contractor emphasized that education was critical to this project. Mike and Candy used EDCO's visualizer tool: "It made our ideas come alive and verified our choices," Candy explains.

But digital tools were only part of the equation. Randy believes that nothing replaces physical samples. "Once you get a piece of EDCO into a customer's hand and they can feel the quality, see the actual color... that's when our customers make their decisions."

Design Versatility Without Limits

Mike and Candy's home demonstrates what true exterior design versatility looks like:

  • Cohesive, trending color choices
  • Products that work together to bring the vision together
  • Versatile products that allow for limitless creativity rather than what everyone else in the neighborhood has
  • A maintenance-free, lifetime steel design

By combining Endura, Perspectives, and Entex Rainware, Mike and Candy pulled together a stunning modern exterior that feels both distinctive and timeless. 45 years in the same home, but now with a completely new first impression.
