Today, homeowners have more roofing options to choose from than ever before. As a result, selecting a roofing material can be overwhelming.
After large hail and damaging winds brought significant damage to the exterior of a Minnesota lake home, the homeowner started researching several roofing products to determine the best option to replace their cedar shake roof. An internet search led them to EDCO’s steel roofing.
“I was familiar with corrugate and standing seam steel roofs, but we did not find either of those styles very appealing,” said the homeowner. “We really had no idea how beautiful steel could be until we saw the many styles of homes with metal roofing installed.” In addition, the homeowners were impressed with how affordable steel was over time. The lifetime warranty, which includes non-prorated parts and labor, sealed the deal.
Rick Case, owner of New Century Exteriors, assisted the homeowners during their research phase.“For 35 years, I have been installing different types of roofing products with the last 15 years focused specifically on metal,” said Case. “When I sat down with the homeowner and laid out the longevity, warranty and appearance of the EDCO product, it became a no-brainer to this couple that EDCO steel roofing was the choice for their home.” One of the reasons New Century Exteriors only installs metal roofing today is because of the consistent performance of the products.
“When I sat down with the homeowner and laid out the longevity, warranty and appearance of the different products, it became a no-brainer to this couple that EDCO was the choice for their home.”
Inspired by the extremely popular reclaimed metal trend in design, the owners fell in love with Infiniti Textured Shake in Roadhouse. They decided the blend of orange, red and brown tones found in the Roadhouse product would evoke the vintage character of weathered steel without the risk of degredation to the metal.
The homeowners loved the look of Roadhouse so much that they decided to paint the exterior of their home to complement their beautiful new roofing. Mark Masica, Hirschfield’s Color Services Manager, has worked with homeowners for 42 years to select paint colors to give the home personality. “I visit hundreds of homes every year but it doesn’t happen very often that I will pull up to a house and am wowed by a roof. When I pulled up to this home, my mouth dropped open in disbelief. The roof was absolutely breathtaking,” said Masica. He noted that EDCO’s steel roofing is a very special product calling it classy and elegant at the same time.
Both the homeowners and New Century Exteriors stress to others looking to replace their roof to do the research. Be sure to objectively look at all the factors that come into play when considering a new roof, such as aesthetics, warranty (read the fine print as not all lifetime warranties are the same), energy impacts and end of life (what impact will that roofing material have on the environment when it needs to be replaced – or if it needs to be replaced at all).
“With EDCO, there are so many roofing options in many different colors for homeowners to choose from. Not only is it a superior product, but the people at EDCO are wonderful to work with too,” said Case.
